"To our dear Family at Brookside -
Thank you so much for thinking of us at Christmas! Your thoughtfulness, love, and support is such an encouragement to us. It is an honor to serve here with you, and we are looking forward to another wonderful year together. We love you very much.
Serving Him by serving you -
Josh, Gloria, Hannah, & Luke."
In November of 2007, a member of Gideons International came to speak at the church. The people of Brookside purchased 22 Bibles for the Gideons to place in hospitals, hotels, dr's offices, etc.
October 7th was National Porn Sunday,
and Brookside Church assumed its position!
Our society has become inundated with pornography and sexualized messages. Porn revenue is larger than all combined revenues of all professional football, baseball and basketball franchises. The number one consumer of Internet pornography is the12-17 age group. Fifty-four percent of pastors admit to struggling with online pornography.
Brookside Church joined in with over 200 churches across the nation in this one-day event to raise awareness of pornography and sexual addiction. Pastor Josh gave a heartfelt message about the challenges of sexual addiction and the hope of recovery.
Resources available during the service include counseling services through Foundations Counseling, New Testaments, and pamphlets from the National Coalition to Protect Children and Families. Other pamphlets created by Brookside Church included information for both male and female sex addicts, the spouses/girlfriends of sex addicts, and guidelines for parents to speak to their teens/tweens about this topic. Check the resources section of this website to view pamphlets and websites for support in dealing with sexual addiction and protecting your family from pornography.
Josh is hoping to bring the Blue Elephant of Pornography to other churches in Eastern PA so that he can help other ministry leaders be equipped to help the people of their own congregations deal with this “dirty little secret” that is ruining so many lives.
You can hear the service online on our Messages page.
On September 9th, Brookside Church held a baptism in beautiful Promised Land State Park. Five people were baptized; Pastor Josh baptized his daughter and a young man, two teen boys were baptized by their father, and a young woman was baptized with her sponsor present. Everybody cheered and fellowship and food followed creating a relaxing and peaceful afternoon.
