About Us

Brookside Church is a community of people that aspires to live out the teachings of Jesus. We started with a desire to break away from the religion humans made out of Jesus’ teachings and go back to the core of what He taught. This is a long path and one that we may never fully complete, but we feel it is imperative that Brookside introduce not only the Hawley area, but the surrounding counties and even other countries to the Jesus of the Bible, without all the fluff.

Church isn’t about getting a group of people into a building once a week. It’s about working in the community and meeting people where they are. It’s about continuing God's desire for us to take care of the Earth. It’s about empowering the poor, and serving the widowed. It’s about helping the orphans or those children that are missing a parent for one reason or another. It’s about serving a loving Jesus and bringing that hope to those around us.

Brookside was also started with the goal of putting a staffed counseling center in the area. We believe that there are many people here that would benefit from a place to go and receive counsel for the many issues that arise when we don’t lead a holistic life with God.

We also have a desire to reach out and assist the people in Northern Uganda. Most specifically a counseling center set up to help the many, many children that were forced to be soldiers in the Lords Resistance Army. The center helps these children reenter society as best they can and also provide AIDS education to the many people there, most of who are the Acholi tribe.
